Control of Hazardous Energies Compliance Course (for skilled and unskilled workers) This course is for operatives who may work on or near equipment that is controlled or supplied my sources of energy.

In manufacturing and similar industrial/commercial installations there is likely to be equipment that utilises one or more sources of energy, including:

  • Kinetic energy (moving equipment)

  • Pneumatic

  • Hydraulic

  • Electrical*

  • Dual (or multi) sources of energy

  • Radioactive components

There are also associated risks such as:

  • Chemicals (in system pipework)

  • Heat (from running equipment)

  • Pressure

*for skilled electrical operatives (electricians etc) we provide a dedicated Safe Isolation Training Course.

Employers have a statutory duty under the Health & Safety at Work Act, and it’s associated umbrella legislation to provide such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of his employees”

With the associated risk of injury and possibly death being very high with equipment and services utilising the energies covered in this course, and the implications of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act , it is vital that employers provide this critical training and also ensure that evidence of this training can be provided if an incident should occur.

Our Control of Hazardous Energies Course is designed to provide the essential safety training for skilled or unskilled operatives working on or near such equipment and services which utilise these hazardous energies.

Tasks being carried out range from simple cleaning and maintenance, to installation and equipment replacement.

Refresher training on safe isolation is recommended every 3 years.
